I've always been interested in art. As a child, I was always focused on drawing and creating artworks. I started on art during school time too, and when it came to electives in high school, I chose Graphic Design and Free perspective drawing. I started working on extracurricular projects and competitions, which helped me develop my skills and even more as a person, too, since I faced stress and pressure differently. Those activities made me feel like I was doing something good for myself, and I felt at home. My electives helped me develop my graphic designing skills and knowledge of different perspectives while drawing (those came in handy during the first year of university), and they gave me the basics for later on similar courses at TU/e.
My desire to focus on industrial design came alive through different parts of my life, and scouting was one of them. I've been camping my whole life, and to survive, you need to build the essentials with just wood and a robe. That, and competitions where you have to build different constructions by yourself, is how I discovered that I enjoy creating prototypes. Scouting made me a more independent and open-minded person since I had to live away from my parents from a young age to be able to camp. Working on art and design at school and being a part of scouting made me realize that I wanted a combination of art and physical creations. Exploring technology was something that I was always scared of. I followed basic courses in high school, but I never thought I would make it my future career. However, being introduced to Industrial Design made me want to connect to my love for design and develop it even more.
